SAINT DENIS (eTN) – Didier Robert, the president of the region La Reunion, France, was joined at the Roland Garros International Airport of La Reunion by Loic Obled from the Office of the Prefet of La Reunion, Pascal Viroleau, the CEO of Ile Reunion Tourisme (IRT) and Seychelles Tourism and Culture Minister Alain St.Ange (also the the president of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands) to welcome Taleb Rifai, the secretary general of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as he stepped off the Air Austral flight at 12:15pm.

Mr. Rifai is in La Reunion to participate in the Vanilla Islands Ministerial Meeting and to chair the UNWTO meeting of sustainable tourism development in small island states.

From Roland Garros International Airport of La Reunion Mr. Taleb Rifai accompanied by President Didier Robert, Senator Jacqueline Farreyol, and Seychelles Minister Alain St.Ange headed to the Prefecture of La Reunion for an Official Working Lunch hosted by the Prefet of La Reunion, Mr Jean-Luc Marx.

The result of today’s meeting was the signing of an agreement between the UNWTO and the Region Reunion, French Indian Ocean and their plans for the tourism development.
