A Fokker F-27 cargo aircraft charted by the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) crashed on Saturday at the Garbaharey Airport in Somalia, local media reports.
The plane, which departed from Dolow Airport, also in Somalia, was carrying nutrients and other humanitarian supplies for families in the area that has been affected by drought.
One of the airplane’s wings struck the wall of a building near the airport before it crash-landed, the deputy governor of Gedo region told a local radio.
Emergency services were deployed to the scene to rescue the crew.
There are reports of several houses sustaining damage.
