Le Sutra is the only hotel in the world where the philosophy of India is told through contemporary art form, and with art the narrator took this story to London. The only representatives from India at the Luxury Travel Fair, November 4-7, and also present at the World Travel Market, November 8-11, it caused quite a stir with anecdotes from Indian culture.
Visitors were thrilled with the idea of being able to traverse the different chakras as you go up and down the lift, representative of the kundalini and the rising of consciousness. The explanation of a Yoga Danda used by yogis for breathing abstracted into the Yoga Danda chair in the Shuddhi “Self Purification” room; the Mandu inlay really being an ancient system of water purification; the Yoni lamp in the Vaasna “Sensuality” room depicting the male and female energy assisting each other to expand their aura and level of consciousness, all captivated the mind-set of both westerners and Indians.
“World Travel Market was a great platform, and Incredible India proved wonderful ambassadors for the country with the hospitality and organization extended to participants [and] also visitors to the show. We believe we have forged good associations, which will translate to business and will surely be here again next year,” said Radha Bajaj, director, Le Sutra.
“The idea is not to sell 14 rooms, which with this concept is very achievable, but to expand the brand. Our concept is creating art hotels based on local culture, and we are looking at the management and franchise route. We also have our restaurant portfolio with Out of the Blue, Masalah Mafia and Dusk at our Palm Beach Hotel and Resort in Vizag and the recently-launched Indian Art Café at Inorbit in Hyderabad,” added Ranjan Gupta, Head Operations, Le Sutra.
In the offing is a hotel project in Dehra Dun, and the company is in talks in other cities for the restaurant brands.
