A group of five tourism operators from the Benelux were recently in Seychelles, from September 10 to 14, on an educational visit of the destination.

The group, consisting of four tour operators from the Netherlands and one from Belgium, were accompanied by the Air Seychelles representative in the Netherlands, Michel Nap, and the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) representative for the Benelux, Karen Confait, who is based in Paris.

The aim of this visit was to introduce the tour operators with the smaller hotels and guesthouses to encourage them to include these establishments in their program, as well as to continuously promote Seychelles as an affordable destination.

Their visit of the islands allowed them to have a first-time experience of the Seychelles destination, including the products and activities on offer.

Their itinerary included tours of Praslin, La Digue, Mahe, and Cerf, including a short visit to Moyenne Island. The tour operators even had the possibility of discovering the destination through sailing between the islands of Praslin and La Digue.

Talking about the tour operators’ visit, Ms. Karen Confait said that it had indeed been a successful trip, full of enthusiasm from the group wanting to see and learn more about Seychelles.

“The group [was] amazed by the beauty of the islands, the nature, and local cuisines,” said Ms. Confait, adding, “They really appreciated the small establishments with their typical Creole charm.”

With their experience of the destination, the tour operators will now be able to better recommend Seychelles to their clients, and in doing so, kill the perception that it is only a luxury destination for the rich.

The visit was organized by the STB in close collaboration with Air Seychelles, Creole Travel Services, Mason’s Travel, Sea Shell Travel, Dream Yacht Charters, Hotel Coco de Mer, and Cerf Island Resort.
