New Chinese AG60E plane is an electrically enhanced variant of the AG60, a light-weight, all-metal aircraft with two seats arranged side-by-side and a single engine.

The AG60 was specifically designed for civilian applications including flight instruction, aerial agricultural surveys, and sightseeing from the air. AG60 can fly to an altitude of 3.6 kilometers (2.24 miles) and has a maximum speed of 218 km per hour (135mph).

China’s first electric plane has dimensions of 6.9 meters (22.64 feet) in length and 8.6 meters (28.21 feet) in wingspan. It can reportedly reach a maximum cruising speed of 185kph (115mph). The manufacturer states that the creation of an electric variant of this fixed-wing aircraft supports the growth of a strategic emerging industry.

Electric planes are equipped with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and electric motors, which are renowned for emitting zero carbon. Solar power or a hybrid system combining electric and combustion engines are alternative energy sources commonly utilized.

Electric airplanes have been also created in various other countries as well. Israel’s Eviation has successfully flown the inaugural trip of the world’s foremost fully electric commuter aircraft prototype in September 2022, taking place in Washington.

An 2021, Rolls Royce unveiled their fastest all-electric aircraft, which they claimed to be the world’s speediest. AutoFlight, a cutting-edge global startup, based in China with manufacturing and testing facilities in Shanghai, has been dedicated to developing an electric aircraft that can take off and land vertically. Furthermore, Airbus, a prominent European company, has been actively engaged in electric flight initiatives since 2010.
